A village feel in a city setting

I have a new strapline and new year group names and need some signage to support these changes…

School Signage Project: Howe Park School & Nursery, Milton Keynes

I was contacted by Linzi, Headteacher at Howe Park School & Nursery, after she was recommended to me by one of my long-term school customers.

Howe Park is a nursery and infant school in Milton Keynes with no connected junior school. Linzi wanted to reposition the school as a “village school in a city setting” – setting it apart from other schools nearby and giving it a stronger identity.

The starting point was a new logo featuring an illustration of the school building set in front of trees to represent the nearby park, with the Milton Keynes skyline in the background. The logo was then used for the main welcome sign in reception and a hall sign for the children to see every day.

To carry the village feel throughout the school, signs were created using village-style imagery. New year group names were also introduced – The Potting Shed, The Orchard and The Meadow – and bespoke imagery to match was created.

Two signs in particular have received lots of positive feedback. The large values tree in the hall proudly displays the school values, and the “My journey through Howe Park” sign takes pride of place in the learning area children pass through every day.
